Best Season to Sell?
For many of us, we compartmentalize when to do things. Often we use the term “seasons” to make sense of our world.
Hockey in the winter season. Holidays in the summer season. Gardening in the spring season. Even retirement parties are reportedly more often in the fall season than any other time of year!
So…to some extent, real estate seems to have a season.
The spring is traditionally an active time for home sales.
But, does that mean you should wait until spring to list your home?
Here’s the reality…
Properties sell all year round!
There are active buyers looking for homes all year long. In fact, chances are there are buyers who would be interested in your home if you were to list it this month! While it’s true that the YYC market fluctuates throughout the year, those variations are nearly impossible to predict.
So, it doesn’t make much sense to wait for the “perfect” month to sell, because that perfect month just might be this month!
Here’s something else to think about…
If you try to sell your home during a period when prices are down like in the current YYC buyers market, you will also be buying your next home in that same market. So, it evens out. The same holds true if you sell during a season when the prices have increased.
So, if you’re considering selling your home, don’t be concerned about picking the right month or season to list.
Focus your efforts, instead, on choosing a YYC realtor you can work with & listing your home at a smart price for the current market conditions and then shopping for your new dream home.
